There Is An ART To Leaf Casting

Making a concrete leaf casting is one of the most discussed topics you'll find on the garden art forums these days. Found in these discussions are many "help me, my leaf didn't come out, how come" questions.

If you want to cast a large leaf, like an elephant ear or the even larger gunnera, there is a level of expertise needed. Not only in knowing how to properly prepare the leaf for casting, but also in the preliminary set-up and in getting the concrete mixture "just right".

Let me mention right now, for those of you that may be brand new to concrete and 'tufa making: **you cannot make fine quality castings of leaves with hypertufa.**

Yes you CAN use 'tufa to successfully cast leaves, however hypertufa DOES NOT allow the fine details of a leaf and its veining to be as evident as a concrete mixture does.
