I Hope You Will Enjoy These Sites As Much As I Do :-)

Garden Art & Gardening Related Links of Interest

Here are links to other websites worthy of mentioning and truly ones that I believe you will find of benefit and/or interest. Happy Browsing!

NOTE: These links are listed in no special order and no one asked me to include them. I feel giving a mention to all these organizations and small businesses is a service to my website's visitors ... you!

National Master Gardener Information & Website Links
Use the interactive map to find Master Gardener websites and information for the United States and parts of Canada. Courtesy of the "American Horticultural Society".

I'm a Certified Master Gardener. Do you know what a "CMG" is? Well, if you're an avid gardener and are looking to become more active in your community through your volunteer efforts, then check into this program. Candidates are provided home horticulture training, and in return "pay back" local university extension agents through volunteerism. Master Gardeners assist with garden lectures, exhibits, demonstrations, school and community gardening, phone diagnostic service, research, and many other projects.

American Bamboo Society
I love bamboo and grow a few species. (Wish I had room for more.) Lots of great information.

American Brugmansia & Datura Society
Yes, I also love brugs and (also) wish I had room for many more varieties, too. Great information and photographs.

Karchesky Canna Collection
I collect canna varieties like 'Pretoria' and 'Tropicana' because of their very striking foliage. Dave Karchesky & Alice Harris are considered two of the premier canna suppliers. Very rare varieties are available. They're also branching out into brugmansias. High quality and excellent service. Great photos of all varieties.

The Lily Pad
Just lilies and an incredible selection is offered. A family run business. I purchased the very hard to find and much sought after exotic "Sumatra" Oriental Lily bulbs from them. (Lucky me!) Excellent service, pricing and selection.

Hummingbirds.net
This site claims to be "the Web's premier place to learn about hummingbirds" and it really is. I love the migration maps. I can double-check to see when these beloved little birds have once again come back into my area. Lots of wonderful information.

Little and Lewis
I've mentioned these incredible artisans elsewhere on my site. If you've not visited their website for inspiration, then you must! I also own and recommend their book "A Garden Gallery". And if you live in Washington … then I'd encourage you to visit their sculpture garden … maybe one day I'll make it over to the West coast :-)

Associated Koi Clubs of America
Website of the "AKCA". If you have a garden pond, or are thinking about adding one AND becoming a Koi owner, this organization is for you. Find a Koi club in your area. Lots of good information and their forum can serve as an "owning Koi" educational base all by itself.

Koi-Unleashed
If you really want to understand how to care for your Koi, then this site is a must read. Duncan Griffiths is a teacher and mentor of mine. I had the extreme honor of taking his Koi-health course and I am now armed with some of the most advanced methods of Koi husbandry taught today. His new book "Advanced Koi Diagnosis and Treatments" is worth every penny.

Stone Menagerie
Want to know how to turn rocks into creative garden art? Visit rock artist (and author) Lin Wellford's website. She's written nine books showing us how to become rock painting experts. Everything from animals, little rock cottages, to three dimensional flowers and plants are just some of the possibilities.

Dave's Garden
A great garden art project and gardening community. Good forums and excellent plant ID information, to name a few. Very informative and well worth the nominal sign-up fee to have full access to the entire site.

GardenWeb Forums
I find the GardenWeb forums to be invaluable for getting answers to my questions on all sorts of subjects, i.e. plant care, or garden projects. Most times a search in the specific forum will bring up the answer I'm looking for.

TheGardenArtForum.com
A site who's theme is "... a whole new concept in free Discussion Forums." There is also a permanent knowledge base with resources for tutorials, plans, and ideas. Hypertufa, concrete, faux bois, metal arts, woodworking and mosaic categories.

Missouri Botanical Garden Library
This web site features 131 volumes from their Rare Book collection. You'll find beautifully illustrated and botanically significant books viewable on your computer. The illustrations alone are worth spending some time there.

Drying Herbs & Roots ... woven into a love story
Downloadable copy of "The Harvester" by Gene Stratton Porter, published 1911. This book is considered by many to still be the most authoritative information available today on how to dry herbs and roots. However, the information is woven through a wonderful and bittersweet love story. (The book reviews found on Amazon.com for this book are all raves, by the way.)
